Why Pharmacists Work With Me
If you’re a pharmacist in Canada, you likely live with:
- A heavy tax drag: Top marginal rates above 50% in most provinces mean “more shifts” doesn’t always equal “more take-home.”
- Ownership decisions with six-figure stakes: Buy-ins, exits, and deal terms can make or break your net worth.
- Inconsistent income: Relief/locum schedules make budgeting and saving messy.
- Competing debt decisions: Student loans, mortgage prepayment, or investing? The right answer depends on after‑tax math.
- Generic advice: Pharmacy careers don’t fit standard “rules of thumb.”
These are fixable with a plan tailored to pharmacy life in Canada.
No cost or commitment. This initial consultation is intended to be a two-way fit check to explore whether we're the right financial partners for you.
What You’ll Get
- 1. Clarity on your picture now: Income sources (relief, T4, corporate), investments, debt, insurance, and expenses, all organized in one snapshot.
- 2. A clear priority map: Receive a physical hard copy of your financial plan. It details your retirement timing, practice buy-in/out, education funding, and tax targets, tied to your unique timelines.
- 3. A tax-smart strategy for pharmacists: RRSP vs TFSA vs corporate investing, income smoothing, and succession steps, built specifically for your schedule and goals.
- 4. Ongoing course-corrections: As your shifts and life change, we adjust so you keep more after tax and avoid surprises.
Who We Serve
Pharmacy is a unique career path. Whether you’re an employee, an owner, an IPG or student still working towards licensing, you need a plan that’s specific to you.
Owners
If you own (or co-own) an independent, or are an associate owner of a major chain, the stakes are high. The wealth potential, and pitfalls, that come with ownership are significant and you need a financial planner who is intimately aware of what’s involved. We’ve been involved with pharmacy owners at every stage of the journey. Helping with valuations for buy-in/buy-out, structuring deals, protecting your personal assets, and growing your wealth with the right mix of corporate and personal (RRSP/TFSA) investing. All while planning for long-term tax mitigation.
Employees / Relief
Having a strong, steady paycheque is nice, but comes with its own problems. High tax rates and slow wage growth can hurt your long-term wealth if not addressed proactively. We help you strategically turn your pay into income-producing assets, reduce your taxes, so more of your money stays with you.
For relief/locum workers, tax is an extreme concern because often it’s not deducted at source. We help establish mitigation strategies, such as deduction optimization and incorporation where appropriate.
Students and IPGs
Starting strong is critical. The decisions you make early in your career set off a cascade of effects that can make or break your wealth. We’re experienced with helping strategically pay down student debt while building towards your other priorities. We provide guidance on internship and first-offer negotiations to ensure you’re getting a fair offer and optimal benefits.
For IPGs relocating to Canada, we have a network of resources to make your transition to your new home seamless. From PEBC prep to understanding the Canadian financial system, we are here to help.
Working with Brad has given me so much confidence in my future. Before, it felt like we were just guessing. Putting money away, but never sure if we were actually doing it right. Now, I have a clear plan.

About Brad
For more than a decade, I have been helping time-strapped pharmacists across Canada turn their income into real flexibility and financial independence with coordinated, tax-aware planning.
Your goal may not be a “traditional retirement”, but simply building up enough assets to step away (temporarily or permanently) when the time is right.
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP®): Rigorous standards in education, experience, and ethics.
- Master of Science in Medicine, former clinical epidemiologist: I’ve trained and worked alongside medical professionals, so I understand the reality of that world, and I bring an evidence-based approach to your plan.
- I work with your accountant and lawyer, not around them. For incorporated pharmacists especially, you get the best outcomes when your planner, accountant, and lawyer are working from the same plan. I’m happy to have them join our meetings directly.
- Flexible scheduling: No “banker hours.” Meet by phone, Zoom, or in-person at our Elizabeth Ave office in St. John’s, whenever it works for you.
FAQs
What happens in the first meeting?
A casual, pressure-free conversation to understand your goals and bottlenecks. The main objective is to get better acquainted and see if we're the right fit to work together. Either way, you’ll leave with 1-2 high-impact next steps.
What are your fees?
The initial consultation is free. If you choose to continue on as a client, we operate with a transparent fee proportional to your assets under management. This ensures our incentives are aligned with your best interests. A detailed outline of all costs will be provided before you make any decisions.
I already have a plan (or another advisor). Can you still help?
Yes. About half of my pharmacist clients come to me from other institutions and other advisors. Usually, their plan isn't wrong, but it simply wasn't built with a pharmacy career in mind. Because I specialize in helping medical professionals, many pharmacists seek me out for a second opinion focused on after-tax results and pharmacy-specific structure.
My income is inconsistent. Can planning even work?
Absolutely. We design systems that flex with locum/relief schedules so saving and investing don’t fall apart when shifts change.
I’m early in my career with student loans. Is it too soon?
No. Early decisions on taxes, accounts, and debt have outsized long-term benefits, even while paying down student loans.
Are you regulated?
Yes. I’m a Financial Planner with Aligned Capital Partners Inc. (“ACPI”), regulated by CIRO (Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization). ACPI is a Member of CIPF. Further, I hold my CFP® designation, which is governed by the FP Canada Standards Council, a division of FP Canada and follow strict ethical and compliance obligations to ensure your money is protected and properly cared for.
I want to do my research. How can I check you out further?
I'm active on LinkedIn, so you can learn more about me there. Also, as a CIRO and FP Canada regulated practitioner, my public reports are available outlining my credentials and regulatory disclosures. You can visit my CIRO profile here (CIRO) or search me on the FP Canada planner directory here.
How do we meet?
Your choice: phone or Zoom from anywhere in Canada, or in-person at our Elizabeth Ave office in St. John’s—at times that work for pharmacist schedules.
