Why Pharmacists Work With Me
If you’re a pharmacist in NL, you currently live with:
- A heavy tax drag: Top marginal rate of 54.8% means “more shifts” doesn’t always equal “more take-home.”
- Ownership decisions with six-figure stakes: Buy-ins, exits, and deal terms can make or break your net worth.
- Inconsistent income: Relief/locum schedules make budgeting and saving messy.
- Generic advice: Pharmacy careers don’t fit standard “rules of thumb.”
These are fixable with a plan tailored to pharmacy life in Newfoundland.
No cost or commitment. This initial consultation is intended to be a two-way fit check to explore whether we're the right financial partners for you.
What You’ll Get
- 1. Clarity on your picture now: Income sources (relief, T4, corporate), investments, debt, insurance, and expenses, all organized in one snapshot.
- 2. A clear priority map: Receive a phyiscal hard copy of your financinal plan. It details your retirement timing, practice buy-in/out, education funding, and tax targets, tied to your unique timelines.
- 3. A tax-smart strategy for pharmacists: RRSP vs TFSA vs corporate investing, income smoothing, and succession steps, built specifically for your schedule and goals.
- 4. Ongoing course-corrections: As your shifts and life change, we adjust so you keep more after tax and avoid surprises.
About Brad
For more than a decade, I have been helping time-strapped pharmacists throughout Newfoundland & Labrador turn their income into real flexibility and financial independence with coordinated, tax-aware planning.
Your goal may not be a “traditional retirement”, but simply building up enough assets to step away (temporarily or permanently) when the time is right.
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP®): Rigorous standards in education, experience, and ethics.
- Former clinical epidemiologist: I’ve trained and worked alongside medical professionals, so I understand the reality of that world.
- I work with your accountant and lawyer, not around them. For incorporated pharmacists especially, you get the best outcomes when your planner, accountant, and lawyer are working from the same plan. I’m happy to have them join our meetings directly.
- Flexible scheduling: No “banker hours.” Meet by phone, Zoom, or in-person at our Elizabeth Ave office, whenever it works for you.
Common Pharmacist Situations that I solve
Relief/locum income
Smooth out variable cash flow, automate saving, and avoid those nasty April tax surprises.
Buy-in or Partnership
Owning (and eventually selling) your own pharmacy is complex. Structure, timing, and terms all have massive impacts for after-tax outcomes (not just top-line).
Corporate vs. Personal investing
Optimize RRSP/TFSA/Corporate mix so you keep more after tax.
Retirement on your terms
More and more, pharmacists don’t want “retirement”. Instead, you want to feel empowered to walk away whenever you feel ready, rather than feeling “trapped” by a paycheque. I help you convert variable income into a reliable, tax-efficient retirement paycheque, so you can leave whenever the time is right.

FAQs
What happens in the first meeting?
A casual, pressure-free conversation to understand your goals and bottlenecks. The main objective is to get better acquainted and see if we're the right fit to work together. Either way, you’ll leave with 1-2 high-impact next steps.
What are your fees?
The initial consultation is free. If you choose to continue on as a client, we operate with a transparent fee proportional to your assets under management. This ensures our incentives are aligned with your best interests. A detailed outline of all costs will be provided before you make any decisions.
I already have a plan (or another advisor). Can you still help?
Yes. About half of my pharmacist clients come to me from other institutions and other advisors. Usually, their plan isn't wrong, but it simply wasn't built with a pharmacy career in mind. Because I specialize in helping medical professionals, many pharmacists seek me out for a second opinion focused on after-tax results and pharmacy-specific structure.
My income is inconsistent. Can planning even work?
Absolutely. We design systems that flex with locum/relief schedules so saving and investing don’t fall apart when shifts change.
I’m early in my career with student loans. Is it too soon?
No. Early decisions on taxes, accounts, and debt have outsized long-term benefits, even while paying down student loans.
Are you regulated?
Yes. I’m a Financial Planner with Aligned Capital Partners Inc. (“ACPI”), regulated by CIRO (Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization). ACPI is a Member of CIPF. Further, I hold my CFP® designation, which is governed by the FP Canada Standards Council, a division of FP Canada and follow strict ethical and compliance obligations to ensure your money is protected and properly cared for.
I want to do my research. How can I check you out further?
I'm active on LinkedIn, so you can learn more about me there. Also, as a CIRO and FP Canada regulated practitioner, my public reports are available outlining my credentials and regulatory disclosures. You can visit my CIRO profile here (CIRO) or search me on the FP Canada planner directory here.
How do we meet?
Your choice: phone, Zoom, or in-person at our Elizabeth Ave office—at times that work for pharmacist schedules.
